As we mark World Social Work Day 2026, the Life Inspiring Foundation (LiF NGO) joins the global community in celebrating the incredible dedication and impact of social workers worldwide. This year’s theme, “Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society,” is more than just a tagline; it’s a vital call to action that resonates deeply with our core mission.

For over a decade, LiF has been on the front lines, witnessing both the profound challenges of a divided society and the transformative power of unity. The theme, with its powerful invocation of “Harambee”—a Kenyan concept meaning “all pull together”—encapsulates the very essence of social work. It reminds us that our strength lies not in our individual efforts, but in our collective ability to collaborate, empathize, and empower.

In a world increasingly characterized by polarization, inequality, and division, the role of social workers is more crucial than ever. We are the bridge-builders, the mediators, the advocates for the voiceless. We are the ones who step in when systems fail, who offer a hand to those who have fallen, and who work tirelessly to create a more just and equitable society.

This year’s theme challenges us to look beyond our differences and find common ground. It calls on us to recognize the inherent dignity and worth of every individual, regardless of their background, beliefs, or circumstances. It urges us to co-build hope, not just by offering assistance, but by fostering resilience, self-reliance, and a sense of belonging.

At LiF, we have seen the power of this collaborative approach firsthand. Our projects, focused on education, healthcare, and community development, are all built on the principles of Harambee. We work hand-in-hand with local communities, government agencies, other non-profits, and corporate partners to ensure that our interventions are sustainable, impactful, and truly address the needs of those we serve.

However, co-building hope and harmony is not a task that can be achieved alone. It requires a societal shift in mindset—a willingness to listen, to understand, and to engage in constructive dialogue. It calls on each and every one of us to become active participants in the process of healing our divided communities.

On this World Social Work Day, let us all answer the Harambee call. Let us commit ourselves to being agents of change, to promoting peace and understanding, and to working together to build a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
As we celebrate the achievements of social workers, let us also look towards the future with hope and determination. The challenges we face are significant, but our collective capacity for compassion and resilience is greater. Together, we can overcome division, build bridges of understanding, and co-create a world of hope and harmony.

From all of us at the Life Inspiring Foundation, happy World Social Work Day! Let us continue to inspire hope and make a difference, one person, one community, at a time.
